Unmasking the present-building a better future

This is the creative concept behind the new image

of the 7th International Documentary Festival

Visioni dal Mondo

Milan, 16 – 19 September 2021

The 7th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri with the artistic direction of Maurizio Nichetti presents its new image for the 2021 edition.

With an evocative and striking visual, the new image developed on the concept Unmasking the present – building a better future reflects the essence and contents of the seventh edition. The image, curated by the in-house creative team, represents the visual “metaphor” of hands as a decisive action on human history, made even stronger and more contemporary by today’s increasingly digital reality. A crowd-filled, human hand reaches towards more digital and robotic hand, underlining the union and continuity between our past and our future. The meeting point between the two hands is Visioni dal Mondo’s logo, a Festival that explores, understands, investigates and denounces the present.

The circles in the background have different colour gradients and symbolise the Earth, also known as ‘Blue Planet’, its atmosphere, and the world we live in, evoking the internationality of the Festival.

Francesco Bizzarri, founder and director of Visioni Dal Mondo commented: “In the words of Mahatma Gandi -The future depends on what you do today. Through our Festival, but above all through the cinema of Reality, we want to investigate, denounce and unmask the present in order to build a better future. In a particularly delicate moment like the present one, we felt it was essential to give greater recognition to our image, in order to convey a positive message. An image inspired by the Renaissance fresco “The Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo, which interprets the present, a present that gives us the tools for the future, to think of new jobs, look for new scenarios, and build great opportunities. In short, without the present, there is no future”.
