Italian Contest – Feature Film
Brief Synopsis:
Felice Andreasi, together with Enzo Jannacci and the members of the Motore ensemble, reshaped Italian cabaret in the 1970s at Milan’s legendary Derby Club, blending satire, nonsense, and surrealism. His path in show business was abruptly interrupted by his true passion: painting, which led him to retreat into the quiet of the Asti countryside. Twenty years after his passing, the film rediscovers an unrepeatable talent — a man who, behind the comedian’s mask, concealed the depth of an authentic painter, indifferent to fame and faithful only to his own freedom.
Director’s Notes:
Many works have celebrated Felice Andreasi’s eclectic talent, yet none have held his contradictions together. Twenty years after his passing, “My name is Felice” seeks not to explain him but to confront the fracture at his core. Through unseen footage and close testimonies, the film evokes a voice that today would feel foreign: irreverent, bitter, politically incorrect. Behind the mimicry lay a man who used comedy as a shield and painting as his only truth.
