Returns live and confirms locations for its next edition

Milan – 16-19 September 2021

Litta Theatre and National Museum for Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci

Unmasking the present – Building a better future

2021 edition theme

The 7th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo returns in presence with strength and boldness, while maintaining a digital version in order to reach an even wider audience. The Festival, founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri with Maurizio Nichetti as Artistic Director, will take place in Milan, from 16th to 19th of September 2021.

The locations of the 7th edition of the long-awaited appointment with the Feature Documentary are confirmed: Litta Theatre, one of the most significant works of Lombard architecture, and National Museum for Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci, the most important Technology and Science’s museum in Italy and one of the most important ones across Europe. The museum will also be a cultural partner of the Festival, as for its past editions.

This edition’s theme will be Unmasking the present – Building a better future. Visioni dal Mondo 2021 indeed sets itself the goal to investigate and, more incisively, to unmask the present to imagine and build a better future.

Francesco Bizzarri, founder and director of Visioni dal Mondo, highlighted that “our contribution to keep the spotlights on the Industry and enliven the city of Milan, elected capital of the documentary in the past editions, will be even stronger and more determined this year. We decided also to maintain our presence on the digital platforms, in order to reach a wider national and international audience. We are anyway well aware that we will have to carefully monitor the health situation until summer and acting promptly for any circumstance.”

Among the sections there will be the Italian Contest reserved to Italian filmmakers, the International Contest for foreign independent productions and the Italian Panorama non-competitive section. The first two days of the event will also be dedicated to “Visioni Incontra” the Industry section of the Festival. Visioni Incontra, which will take place at Teatro Litta on 16 and 17 September.

During these two days a Pitching Contest and a Forum with masterclasses, meetings and in-depth panels will be scheduled.
