On the occasion of the Centre Pompidou’s closure, Renzo Piano pauses for the first time to reflect on his life’s path. Through a heartfelt dialogue with his daughter Lia, the film retraces the key moments of his personal and professional journey – between memories, dreams, and sandcastles.

An intimate and visual portrait where the interview becomes a long confession: an open dialogue between father and daughter that reveals the man behind the architect. Renzo Piano’s thoughts and memories take shape through dreamlike, cinematic reconstructions – fragments suspended between dream, memory, and desire.
Production Notes:
The project stems from an in-depth knowledge of architect Renzo Piano, the RPBW studio, and the Renzo Piano Foundation, following the production of two documentaries – The Power of the Archive and Inside RPBW – and a TV series – Piano’s Lessons (Rai5) – which explore the architect’s working method and teachings. The ideal conclusion to this trilogy, and a departure from traditional documentary language, the film is a portrait retracing 87 years of projects, revealing the man behind the architect.

Mattia Colombo, sceneggiatore e regista. I suoi ultimi lavori sono i film Sconosciuti puri, Aldo Rossi Design e Green Over Gray. Emilio Ambasz. Ha ricevuto il Premio Corso Salani e una menzione speciale al Premio Solinas Documentario. Insegna allo IED di Milano.
Davide Fois, sceneggiatore e regista. Davide ha iniziato la sua carriera dirigendo videoclip musicali prima di passare alla narrazione cinematografica. I suoi ultimi lavori sono il film Inside Renzo Piano Building Workshop e la mini-serie Lezioni di piano, su Renzo Piano in conversazione con un gruppo di studenti
