Synopsis:
Spheres, columns, pyramids. Perfect forms, lacerated, excavated, freed from matter. Arnaldo Pomodoro, iconic sculptor, dropped his works in the four corners of the planet, like objects from another world. He has been inspired by the past and peered into the future, drawing lessons from it, inventing new forms with his characteristic negative technique, creating small and monumental works, stage sets, jewellery and sculptures that become architecture. A profound and captivating tale, in which the artist’s boundless archive is mixed with sequences in the symbolic places of his production, testimonies and video art inserts on the relationship between the forms of nature and the inventiveness of man.

Director’s Notes:
Narrating such a life and a production means retracing different times and styles, united by a single artist’s sensitivity, in continuous evolution. The idea is to juxtapose the forms of nature with the works of Arnaldo Pomodoro, tracing a path that can contain a plurality of formats, divided into three chapters: research, experimentation, invention. To construct a narrative with a strong visual impact, which can give space to Pomodoro’s voice, to his work, and to those who have been affected by it.
Production Notes:
The project is in late-development. The Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation has made available an immense archive of audiovisuals, drawings, artist’s proofs, sketches. The collaboration of the Carlo Orsi Archive, a photographers who worked with Pomodoro, has also been obtained. The writing has been finalized, preliminary filming has taken place over the last two years and the production has raised about 40% of the budget. We are currently looking for pre-sales and distribution.
DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Alessandro Pezza is a founding partner and producer of studiozabalik, with which he mainly makes documentaries. As a director he has signed three short documentaries, Le api operose awarded at the Festival Luci sul lavoro, Hands, the winning project of the Fabriano Film Fest contest and È dopo – Appunti su Franco Evangelisti.
