Brief Synopsis:

In Capitán Pastene, a Chilean town founded by settlers from Modena in the early 1900s, the annual festival celebrates a multicultural identity that brings together Italians, Chileans, and Mapuche. Through rituals, parades, and family memories, the descendants of the settlers proudly evoke the epic of their ancestors. Yet, within this enclave of Emilian roots, the collective narrative hides deep fractures. José, a Mapuche farmer, tells a different story: a former worker in a forestry industry that disrupted the local hydrography, he bears on his body the marks of a progress that pushed his people to the margins. Between the pride of descendants celebrating their fathers’ sacrifice and the silent resistance of those who witnessed the land’s transformation, the town reveals itself as a crossroads of divergent destinies, where the myth of colonization must confront the reality of its wounds.
