This project stems from our desire to confront the fear of aging and death through the surprising life of eels. The narrator’s voice weaves together autobiographical and scientific planes, developing the documentary on two levels: the eels and the women we encounter, all connected to water and the themes explored. To recreate the mysterious atmosphere of the eel – elusive and intangible – we never show these animals explicitly, preferring to stimulate the viewer’s imagination. We use fixed camera and gentle movements to compose breathing frames, like illustrated pages of a story, with original electronic music.
