Brief Synopsis:
During the 19th century, most of the inhabitants of Piana in Valsesia left their land to emigrate to France. The houses, churches and artisan workshops, remained silent and empty. In 2023 Carlo and his son Enrico decided to restore the abandoned carpentry of one of their ancestors. The Suspended Wheel tells the journey of rebirth of the “carpenter’s house” and the community of the village. A journey that began on a gray winter day and that took us to a fascinating human and natural context, whose founding elements are water, wood and stone.
Director’s Notes:
For one year we documented the rebirth of the carpentry and the little community of Piana, slowly repopulating, aiming to bring the spectator in an emotional journey, making him preceive with all his senses, in the particular and the universal, the poetic dimension of nature, of mountain, and their relationship with the human being.
