Festival Contests officially opened: “Stories from the contemporary world”; “Storytellers of our Time: a Mirror into the Future”; “Visioni Incontra”

Milan, 24th february 2020. The Contests of the 6th International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, conceived, founded and directed by Francesco Bizzarri under the artistic direction of Maurizio Nichetti, are officially open.

The rules of the Contests, that will be held in Milan from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th September, are available from today Monday 24th February on the website www.visionidalmondo.it.

Italian Contest: “Stories from the contemporary world”, the Contest dedicated to Italian filmmakers. They should be italian premiere, there is  no lenght limits – all feature films, medium-length films and short films – completed after the 1st of January 2019 can enter the Contest. The Contest “Stories from the contemporary world” will focus on documentary films that narrate today’s world, stories that address the most important themes of international and national current affairs, but also personal stories inspired by our social life in its most controversial aspects.

International Contest: “Storytellers of our Time: a Mirror into the Future”, the international contest dedicated to foreign independent productions. International documentaries with a minimum 50 minutes’ lenght completed after the 1st of January 2019 will be eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest “Storytellers of our Time: a Mirror into the Future” should address the documentary films that tells about  contemporary’s ideas, facts, people that have an impact today and influence the future, the globalized world as a source of great contrasts, but also of exceptional characters, alternative models, fascinating collective gestures, non-violent rebellions, stories of hope.

Work in Progress Pitching Contest “Visioni Incontra”, coordinated by Cinzia Masòtina, screenwriter and story editor, dedicated to Italian work in progress projects in search of financing. Independent productions that are already financed for 30% of the budget can participate in the Contest. Visioni Incontra contest will select Italian documentary film projects with particular reference to contemporary reality. The selected projects will be presented in a pitching session to an audience of audiovisual professionals. Individual appointments between the parties will follow for funding, co-productions and distribution agreements. The Industry section of the Festival dedicated to professionals and exclusively by invitation, will be held during the first two days of the event, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September, at the “Litta Theatre”. Visioni Incontra section also includes in-depth panels on the audiovisual panorama.

The deadline to subscribe to the Contest is June 7, 2020, registration, subscriptions forms and all Contest rules are available on the Festival website (www.visionidalmondo.it).

The selection process will be carried out by the Direction of the International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo and the selection committee.

The works selected for the Italian and International contest will be screened  during the 6th Festival Visioni dal Mondo, from 17 to 20 September in the two venues chosen for the 2020 edition: the Litta Theatre, one of the most significant works of Lombard architecture, and the Leonardo da Vinci National Science and Technology Museum, the most important museum of science and technology in Italy and one of the most important in Europe and the world.
