Visioni Incontra – 1st Edition

More than 200 professionals invited, 15 documentaries projects (work in progress) presented , 40 one-to-one meetings organized between directors, producers and potential production or financial partners.  Great interest and participation for Visioni Incontra,  the Industry section  held at the 2nd International Documentary Film Festival Visioni dal mondo, Immagini dalla Realtà’ (A Window on the world, Images from Reality) October 5 to 9, UniCredit Pavilion, Piazza Gae Aulenti 10, Milan.

Visioni incontra is the industry event organized in collaboration with Lombardia Film Commission to help independent filmmakers and producers to publicize their projects, to make networking, and to seek  funding.

Visioni incontra, by invitation and exclusively dedicated to the industry, took place  from 5 to 7 October in front of an audience of over 200  professionals, including television editor, theatre’s circuits, platforms, independent producers, distributors, acquisition managers, sales agents . The aim was to to help projects in the final development with funding, pre-sales and distribution.

15 the Italian documentary’s projects, that competed for the Frankieshowbiz prize of 2500 euro.

Essere Gigione. La vera storia di Luigi Ciaravola (To be Gigione, the true story of Luigi Ciaravola), written and directed by Valerio Vestoso and produced by Camillo Esposito for Capetown Ltd. is the winning project which was awarded the prize as the best Project. The prize worth 2500 euro, was offered by the production company FRANKIESHOWBIZ

In the Visioni Incontra framework, but out of competition,  were also pitched  2  documentary in progress: the first one in collaboration with Doc / it – Italian Documentary Association, title Rhapsody in June by Barbara Andriano and Gwendolyn Marco, winner of the DWA – Doc / en Women Award announced to VeniceDays, and the second one, The man and the beast,  conceived and produced by Marechiarofilm of Antonietta De Lillo.

Visioni Incontra organized also the following panels and workshops:

  • Il Decreto legge Franceschini: the new law regarding the sector re-organization and the public  financing of the arts (Movie, Tv, theatre etc.) presently under discussion at the italian parliament: mechanisms, opportunities and perspectives illustrated by a representative of MiBACT (Ministry of Italian culture and tourism) 
  • The Creative Europe Media Programme:‘Funding, training and networking’ , illustrated by the italian representative Silvia Sandrone (Creative Europe Desk Italy, project officer MEDIA Torino Office)
  • The marketing of movies and documentaries:‘The winning mentality’ in collaboration with Doc / it – Italian Documentary Association.
    Presented by  Alvaro Vega (communications manager for Doble Sentido cinema), and coordinated by Stefania Casini (vice-president of Doc / it- the italian Documentary Association)
  • ‘The Funding, the editorial policy and the procedures for co-production of RSI – the italian swisse public Radio Television’.
